The Quicksilver in Memory of Eddie Aikau is an event that signifies
the many deep-seeded beliefs and passions of the people in Hawaii who
thrive in the lifestyle and culture represented by this tribute to Eddie Aikau.
The honored 48 men who are invited to participate are those few who understand
the respect the ocean commands, just as Eddie did. These men are chosen, based on
the respect present in each of them that reflect the qualities dominant in Eddie:
courage, understanding, endurance, perception, and most importantly, a passion for the ocean...
Held at Waimea Bay in surf reaching no less than 25 feet, my friends and I were
very fortunate to have caught this rare event. It is held only once every
few years when the wave conditions meet the event qualifications.
As I always say, "Life's an Adventure, Just Flow With It"... Surf's Up, baby!
